The conference was held in Wichita, Kan. from August 7 to August 9. Optima received the KPTA Achievement Award in recognition of the company's outstanding achievement in Kansas and throughout the nation. "Everyone at Optima Bus Corporation is extremely proud to have received this award from KPTA," said Michael Monteferrante, Chief Executive Officer of Optima Bus Corporation. "We have experienced a record setting year, which includes building Opus buses for Chicago Transit Authority and Miami Dade Transit as well as Kansas-based transit authorities." In 2006, Chicago Transit Authority will take delivery of 45 under 30' Opus Low-floor buses; Miami Dade Transit will take delivery of 72 newly designed streamlined Opus Low-floor buses; the University of Kansas, which is located in Lawrence, Kan., received five under 35' Opus buses; and Topeka Transit received four under 35' Opus buses.
