316-779-7700 ext. 344 Birmingham–Jefferson County Transit Authority purchases 20 Opus buses from Optima Bus CorporationWichita, KS – October 23, 2003 – Optima Bus Corporation announced today that Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (MAX) in Birmingham, Alabama, has purchased 20 low-floor Opus buses. According to Mark Stanley, executive director of MAX, 109 buses service Birmingham-Jefferson county, "This is our transit authority's second order from Optima. We're excited to add the Opus buses to our fleet and fully expect to receive positive feedback from passengers and bus operators alike." The new buses will be used to transport nearly 3 million passengers in the MAX system. Servicing the entire metropolitan area, the Opus buses will follow fixed routes throughout the community. "Because MAX is such a large system, it needs to have very fuel-efficient, technologically sound buses it can depend on," says Diane Hawkins, marketing and sales manager for Optima. "That's where the Opus comes in — its structural strength and high-quality design contribute to its consistent, outstanding performance."
