Opus low-floor buses. First Capital Trolley -- Guthrie, Okla. First Capital Trolley (FCT) purchased two American Heritage Streetcars following its original acquisition of two VS-24 Alamo City Streetcars in 1988. Melissa Felser, FCT Director, says,“We have had great success with our previous streetcars, but we needed to expand our fleet to accommodate our growth. The purchase of two new American Heritage Streetcars will allow us to spend time refurbishing our 1988 models, so they can run for another 16 years.” South Bend Public Transportation Corporation -- South Bend, Ind. Having just introduced a circulator shuttle service to serve the downtown area, South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (TRANSPO) recently doubled its streetcar fleet by placing an order for two additional American Heritage Streetcars. “Since their debut this summer, the new TRANSPO trolleys have offered South Bend citizens and visitors alike a convenient and fun way to get around downtown,” says TRANSPO General Manager Mary McLain. “They have been well received and are generating a great deal of interest for use during community events. The two additional trolleys,” says McLain, “are needed for planned shuttle service for local university students to access our downtown.” Ben Franklin Transit -- Richland, Wash. Ben Franklin Transit (BFT) signed a deal to acquire three more under-30-ft. Opus low-floor buses, expanding its fleet of Opus buses to nine less than a year after its initial six-bus order. BFT Operation Manager, Barbara Hays explains, “They [Opus low-floor buses] have been extremely well received by the public, and the public is our number one priority. Besides being an incredibly attractive bus, they have such a fantastic application in a busy city because they’re small and maneuverable.”
